When I paint, the results are as much about how I feel
as about what I see.
I gather drawings and photographs, stealing shapes and searching for
the essence of the subject. Then using marks, layers, lines and colour
I separate from the original starting point. This intervention enables
the painting to become itself. The ordinariness of subject and setting
belie the narratives that are hinted at, but not discussed. |
